George's Brain Hexagonal Cellular Automata
(Click to restart)
A hexagonal analog to Brian's Brain, this CA uses a refractory state in addition to live and dead states. Cells with refractory state always become dead. Cells which are dead become live if they have exactly three or four live neighbors, otherwise they stay dead. Live cells stay alive if they have between five and eight neighbors inclusive, otherwise they become refractory. A twelve neighbor star shaped neighborhood is used for counting.
